Ed Sheeran model replaces King Charles

A woman who displayed a life-sized model of King Charles III on her fence has recycled the monarch and turned him into pop star Ed Sheeran.

Sharon Kulesa from Stowmarket, Suffolk, said the King proved so popular that she decided to create another figure.

“I thought ‘I’ll keep this going – it’s got to be Ed the Suffolk legend’,” she said.

Ms Kulesa said the model, made using a mannequin, tin foil and tights, took “a couple of weeks” to create.

Before making a figure of the King to mark his coronation last May, she had created ones of Elizabeth II and ex-Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

“They get recycled – Ed will become whoever’s next. Underneath Ed is the Queen and the King,” she said.

Ms Kulesa said the models had proved popular with the local community.

“The one of King Charles brought a lot of smiles and joy. I love doing it and I think people have a level expectation,” she said.

“I tend to leave them up until they get really ropey and start falling apart – it could be months.”

She is already considering who to make next.

“I’ve had suggestions. I think a film character would be nice, Mary Poppins or James Bond,” she said.

“My husband really wants me to do the Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna.”

The real-life Sheeran sponsors Ipswich Town’s shirts, and can often be seen at Portman Road.
