Some concerned residents of Aflao have issued an urgent call to the government to repair the deteriorating Aflao-Dzodze-Ho highway.
The highway, a vital lifeline connecting major cities and towns, has fallen into a state of disrepair, posing significant risks to motorists and hindering economic activities.
In a statement released on Monday, February 12, the residents emphasized the highway’s critical importance to the region’s well-being and called for swift action.
They stressed that the Aflao-Dzodze-Ho highway was not just a stretch of pavement but the lifeblood of their region.
They, therefore, demanded a thorough assessment, adequate funding, transparent execution, and collaboration with experts to ensure efficient repair work.
“The Aflao-Dzodze-Ho highway cannot wait for political posturing or bureaucratic red tape. It requires immediate and decisive action to safeguard the safety and prosperity of the communities.
“The time for action is now, and together, we will ensure that the Aflao-Dzodze-Ho highway is restored to its former glory, serving as a beacon of progress and prosperity for generations to come,” they added.
They urged leaders to recognize the urgency of the situation and allocate the necessary resources without delay.
They vowed to persist until their voices are heard and the necessary steps are taken.
The government, on several occasions, has reiterated its commitment to prioritize road construction in the country.
In November 2019, the Akufo-Addo administration assured Ghanaians of good and motorable roads come 2020, saying, the year will be christened the ‘year of roads’.
It assured the populace that enough funding to commence construction and reconstruction of deplorable roads had been allocated for the project.
The same promise was made in 2021, but to date, most roads are still in dire state.
