The Rotation Nurses and Midwives Association (RNMA) is demanding the immediate release of financial clearance for outstanding allowances of members.
According to the leader of the association, GH₵12,000 in allowances remain unpaid for the July batch of their members.
In a statement, the RNMA said it has sent several letters to the Ministry of Health that have gone unanswered.
The leadership criticized the government’s inaction, claiming it harms its members’ health, well-being, and financial stability and further jeopardizes the Ghanaian healthcare system.
They further threatened to embark on a strike if the government failed to heed their demand.
“We are giving the Ministry of Health a two-week ultimatum to positively respond to us by engaging the appropriate authorities to release our financial clearance for us to be paid.
“If the said time relapses without any resolution, we would have no other option than to embark on a one-week peaceful protest by laying our working tools down or hit the street to demonstrate against this injustice,” the RNMA threatened.
