Marcus Rashford ‘spotted in nightclub’ before missing Man Utd training through illness
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was spotted in a nightclub in Belfast just hours before missing Friday’s training session with the Red Devils, a report has claimed.
Videos of Rashford in a nightclub began to emerge on social media after he missed training, with United officials insisting the footage was from a pre-agreed visit to Northern Ireland which was on Wednesday.
However, those sharing the footage online were adamant the videos were actually taken on Thursday evening and The Athletic claim to have received confirmation that Rashford attended Thompsons Garage nightclub that night.
Rashford is understood to have taken a private flight back to Manchester on Friday morning, before manager Erik ten Hag told the media that the 26-year-old missed training that day through illness.
“This morning, Rashford was ill and [Jonny] Evans was ill so we have to see how they recover,” Ten Hag stated.
Rashford was disciplined by Ten Hag earlier this season when he was spotted in a nightclub in November, just hours after United’s 3-0 defeat to rivals Manchester City.
“I spoke with him about it. It’s unacceptable,” Ten Hag said of Rashford’s indiscretion last year. “He apologised and that is it. For us it’s an internal matter. He’s very motivated to put things right. He’s totally with us.”
The hometown forward was also benched in December that year after reporting late to a team meeting.
Rashford finds himself under intense scrutiny over a severe drop in form this season. After netting 30 goals in all competitions last year and staking his claim to be the posterboy of the Ten Hag era, Rashford signed a bumper new contract but has followed that up with just four goals across 26 games in all competitions this season.
