A Bitter Little Laugh In The Storm At Adansi Asokwa
A Joy TV news report that caught the eye of Ghana Report, is politically related. It focuses on the Adansi-Asokwa constituency of the Ashanti region where the youth went on a wild demonstration and vowed to kick out the incumbent Member of Parliament in this year’s general elections in Ghana.
The charged atmosphere in which the youth was clad in red, heard many voices of frustration and disappointment against the period their MP had represented them in the legislature. They said the youth are jobless, whilst development has retarded in the constituency.
”We have no toilets and urinals in the market, the police in the town operate from someone’s residential compound,” the voices of dissent revealed. It was not clear whether the police station relates to a town called Fumso in the Adansi-Asokwa constituency.
For now, it is obvious the heatwave emanating from this boiling front wafts around Mr. K.T. Hammond who is the legislator from Adansi-Asokwa. The Youth said, that for the past 24 years, they have not experienced any progress and would show K.T. the red card soon.
The maverick politician who is also the Trade and Industry Minister was recently in the news for his failed bid to get his challenger disqualified in the forthcoming NPP election primaries. K.T., the center appears not to be holding. A proposed casualty in the next parliament? Will he survive the 27 January 2024 primaries even before it gets to the turn of the people of his constituency? How will the big man save the situation?
