Bui Power Authority clears air on overflow of water onto some roads in Savanna Region
Bui Power Authority (BPA) has stated emphatically that viral video showing an overflow of water onto some roads in the Savanna Region purported to be coming from the Bui Generating Station (BGS) Controlled Spillage exercise is totally false.
The Authority insists the Controlled Spillage exercise is yet to be undertaken by the authority hence cannot be the reason for the overflow in the Savanna Region.
The Authority in a statement signed by its Chief Executive, Fred Oware has cleared the air of the ‘wild’ speculations on social media, stressing that pictures and videos circulating are unrelated.
He noted that BPA will undertake Controlled Spillage if the observed inflows exceed what the reservoir can accommodate.
He added based on their projections, the authority is likely to do the Controlled spillage exercise of the Bui reservoir tomorrow, October 23.
He further revealed “Currently, BPA is sensitizing communities along the downstream river channel and also monitoring inflows upstream. ”
The authority is therefore assuring the general public that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure that life and property are protected during and after spillage.
