Former Church Of Pentecost Chairman Michael Ntumy Dies

Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy, the fourth Chairman of the Church of Pentecost (COP) has passed on.

He died on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at age 65.

Apostle Ntumy began his full-time ministry with The Church of Pentecost at age 26. He was called to the office of an Apostle at age 33 and six years later, was elected the fourth chairman of The Church of Pentecost and served from 1998 to 2008.

After serving for two terms (10 years), he handed over to Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah due to his ill-health.

He is known to have survived many challenges which include being held hostage in rebel territory (Liberian Civil War-1990’s), attacks on his life ranging from physical assaults to poisoning and paralysis leading to his confinement to a wheelchair until his demise.

Apostle Ntumy was a great writer who authored several books and played a pivotal role in the writing of the church’s annual devotional and other spiritual books as he served as the Director of Literary Works of The Church of Pentecost.

Apostle Ntumy retired from active service as an Apostle of the church late this year.

An official retirement service was held for him and his family on 24th September 2023 in Hamburg, Germany after 39 years in the ministry.

The Church of Pentecost in a statement released on December 27, said the late “Apostle Dr. Ntumy was not only a reverend man of God but also an inspirational leader. His commitment to the things of God was unparalleled, and his contributions to our church and community were significant. He left an indelible mark on everyone who had the good fortune of crossing paths with him. We are deeply indebted to him for his selfless service, leadership, and tireless dedication to spreading God’s word”.
