Hiplife music duo Akatakyie say they are back in the music industry after years of absence.

Akatakyie, made up of King Pharoah and Kobby Culture, who were a household name back in the early 2000s, are confident of recapturing the number one spot in hiplife just like they did in the past.

Speaking in an interview with 3news.com, the duo said they are back to protect the hiplife legacy they birthed.

“We’ve been around doing business, traveling and all that, but Akatakyie is here.

“We are the kings of hiplife, and we have to protect it.

“They learnt from us, so why can’t we compete with them. If Akatakyie come out today, most of the boys will go down because they learnt from us before doing what they are doing now.

“They should watch out, we are back.”

Akatakyie shot to prominence in the early 2000s with their hit breakthrough song ‘Odo asisi me’.

The duo later churned out other hit songs like Ghana Mmaa, Agoo, Mingbo, Sie sie obaa no, Sinsima and others.

After years of being absent from the music scene, the duo have announced a comeback and are confident of releasing more hit songs to the delight of many music lovers in Ghana.

“They should watch out, expectations should be big, because this will be more than before, so Ghanaians should just watch out,” Kobby Culture assured.
