From Sublime Skills To Mental Challenge To The Grave

This headline aptly describes the life of a Ghanaian footballer who has just kicked the bucket. He became a member of the Accra Hearts of Oak squad called the 64 battalions which was all-conquering.

Indeed, there has been none like him after he last kicked the ball in the year 2001 as a player. He was the conventional, gifted dribbler whose neat footwork dazzled everybody. No matter how the opponent’s tackle came, this nimble-footed player had the mastery to outwit them.

He was signed on by Accra Hearts of Oak from Okwahu United where his unique skills became instantly evident and a hit when playing alongside Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor, Ishmael Addo, Charles Allotey, Emmanuel Adjogu, Charles Taylor, and Stephen Tetteh among others.

Much later into retirement, an insipid news item emerged that he was battling mental health-related issues. A disturbing photograph buttressed the claims, but then news about him was submerged along the line.

Out of the blue on November 29, 2023, the bombshell ranged out that Emmanuel Yartey the footballer with sublime skills was no more. Dead and gone.
