Fast-rising Burniton signee, Okailey Verse, popularly known as ‘OV’, has finally reacted to critics of her ‘manly’ style of dressing.
In an interview monitored by The Ghana Report, OV confirmed she is a ‘Tomboy’, adding that she chooses to dress that way because it makes her comfortable
“I am a tomboy and I have accepted it, my looks and everything defines it. Looking at me, it clearly shows that I am a tomboy. I am not a man, the fact that I act like it doesn’t make me one,” she said.
Commenting on rumours that she could be a lesbian, the ‘Want Me’ hitmaker said she is only attracted to men and has actually been in a couple of relationships with men.
“Of course, I am a tomboy, but Ghanaians define tomboy in a different way. People think you are gay or lesbian. I am straight and a girl,” OV stated.
The dancehall artiste rose to fame after winning Season 7 of the MTN Hit Maker music reality show in 2018, grabbing a GHC100,000 recording deal under Burniton Music which is headed by the reigning Reggae Dancehall artiste of the year, Stonebwoy.
Her normal T-shirt and ripped jeans make her feel comfortable and she would not trade it just to fit into the definition of what a woman should look like.
“It is difficult for me to wear heels, it doesn’t suit my brand…I can wear heels and comfortably walk in them, it is just not my thing,” she confessed.
