Gov’t reintroduces visa-on-arrival for travellers ahead of christmas
The government has reintroduced the visa-on-arrival policy for passengers travelling to Ghana ahead of the Çhristmas and New Year festive season.
The arrangement takes effect from December 1, 2023, to January 15, 2024.
This means individuals coming to Ghana are not mandated to acquire a visa before arriving in the country but would rather receive their visas upon arrival in the country.
A communique from the Ministry of Transport to all airlines said this forms part of the government’s ‘Beyond the Return’ initiative.
The ‘Beyond the Return’ initiative is a 10-year plan designed to build on the ‘Year of Return’ momentum.
“Following consultation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana Tourism Authority, approval has been given for passengers travelling to Ghana to opt for visa-on-arrival, waiving the requirement for prior approval,” the ministry said.
