Theresa Kufour was a major contributor to her husband’s political success – Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described the late Theresa Kufour as a composed and articulate first lady who contributed significantly to her husband’s success as president.
In a glowing tribute, the president said the former first lady was an invaluable and constant source of advice, encouragement and prayers for President John Agyekum Kufour.
“She was politically astute and was a major contributor to her husband’s political success. Mama Theresa, as she was affectionately called by most people, Aba to me, was a devoted companion of former President Kufuor throughout their 61 years of marriage,” he said.
Describing his interactions with her, President Akufo-Addo said he was grateful that he had the opportunity to know her.
“Her warmth, kindness and grace were exceptional. My wife, Rebecca, the first lady, our family and I will miss her a lot.”
The president, together with his wife, joined the Kufour family and other dignitaries at the forecourt of the State House on Thursday, November 16, in a state funeral for the late former first lady.
Mrs Kufour died at her home in Peduase on Sunday, October 1, at 87.
