‘Smitten’ By Court Of Law, Shoulder High In Court Of Public Opinion

Former US President Donald Trump is caught between and betwixt contrasts that simply suggest an unusual paradox of national history. Whilst he faces torrid time in the court of law over charges brought against him by the State, his political popularity is on the ascendancy.

An opinion poll conducted by the New York Times and Siena College is reported to show Mr. Trump leading the incumbent President, Joe Biden, in key battleground states ahead of the November 2024 US Presidential Elections.

In the courtroom, it has not been easy for him, and his latest publicity stunt was tagged as breaking news ahead of the latest phase of the civil fraud trial in a New York court. The maverick politician allegedly attacked the court and its officials adjudged by Observers as a salt rubbed-in injury that sets him up against the judicial system.

At the court hearing on November 6, the judge told Trump’s attorney ”take control of your client, this is not a political rally.”

Mr. Trump faces a total of 91 felony charges across his criminal indictments. Whilst his legal encumbrances appear not to be going away anytime soon, his popularity on the political front is soaring. He leads all Republican Party contenders, President Biden, and significantly, he is doing well in the swing states.

The recent polls have reportedly shaken the Democratic Party but its members are mixed in reactions as to whether the findings reflect a clear direction.
