A Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otukonor has charged President Nana Akufo-Addo to be explicit on his position concerning the controversial Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE).
According to him, President Akufo-Addo’s recent “I’m a Christian and as long as I sit as President of Ghana, I will not allow anything like that in our schools so I urge you all to be calm because I won’t let that happen” comment is a façade.
He said, Nana Addo needs to explicitly state his position, just as Former President Mahama and Mills did when they were confronted with similar situations.
“Nana Addo needs to be explicit on Comprehensive Sexuality Education as Former President Mahama and Atta Mills did when they were faced with similar situation during their reign. He needs to withdraw the CSE immediately. He needs to be bold and not hide under the pretence of ‘I am a Christian’. His bound to happen comments on CNN is stirring him in the face, he should issue a statement withdrawing the documents from the curriculum,” Mr Otukonor said..
In an interview monitored by The Ghana Report, Boamah Otukonor, charged the Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to save himself from further shame by resigning for failing at his job.
“The Minister of Education should save himself from further shame by resigning. He should save himself the little honour left. It is a curse to this nation to teach our children that, even Canadians are demonstrating against this thing, government needs to withdraw this policy immediately,” he disclosed.
Boamah Otukonor also charge the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia to state his stands on the matter.
