The Tafo Divisional Police Command of the Old Tafo Municipality of the Ashanti Region have arrested two persons following communal clashes between Pankrono and Adabraka youth that left one stabbed to death.

The arrests followed an  incident which happened on Wednesday evening, October 18, 2023, at a public toilet in Pankrono which claimed the life of 27-year-old Kwame Owusu, a resident of Pankrono.

The suspects were reportedly arrested by the Tafo Divisional Police Command on Thursday, October 19, 2023, following the mysterious death of Kwame Owusu, an electrician in the area.

The suspects, whose names are withheld, are said to have allegedly injected a substance suspected to be poisonous into the Kwame Owusu leading to his death.

According to some residents, the deceased was a victim of an old rift between the youth of Pankrono and the youth of Adabraka in the Asante Region.

They revealed that the two youth groups had clashed some months ago causing a rift between the two communities.

Information gathered indicates that some youth from Adabraka attacked Kwame Owusu after he had used the toilet facility and was heading back home and injected him with suspected poison killing him instantly.

According to an opinion leader and member of national security,  Nana Prempeh, the police have arrested two individuals in connection with the murder to help in the investigation of the matter.

Nana Prempeh lauded the police force for helping to maintain peace in the municipality and assured the family of the deceased and the youth of the two communities to remain calm.

On the other hand, the mother of the deceased, Madam Ama Afrah revealed that her son, Kwame Owusu had returned from Qatar a few days ago and was preparing to leave for Dubai on October 19, 2023, a day after his death.

“I heard about my son being attacked by a group and so rushed to the scene and met my son lying lifeless battling for his life, but he was already cold in nature”, she added.

Madam Afrah appealed to the police service and the entire national security forces of the country to make sure that peace is restored between the two communities and, if possible impose a curfew on the two communities to avoid future happenings.

She also entreated the police force to make sure they allow justice to take its course.

The youth of Pankrono have in other words vowed to descend heavily on anybody from Adabraka whenever they come into contact.
