NPP Asawase Organizer granted bail after alleged attack on Asokore Mampong MCE
The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Organizer in the Asawase Constituency has been granted bail after alleged assault on Asokore Mampong MCE Kennedy Kankam.
Rashia Dauda was released on bail after being questioned by the police over allegations of assault.
The incident in question occurred when Mr. Dauda, along with several constituency executives, confronted the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) in his office.
They were demanding the release of funds to support activities during the recent Limited Voter Registration exercise.
The MCE’s refusal to release the funds resulted in a heated verbal exchange between him and the constituency organizer.
Although the incident was initially reported weeks ago, it was only recently that Mr. Dauda was invited by the Asokore Mampong police for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the First Vice Chairman of the NPP in the Asawase Constituency, Noah Owusu, denied claims that Mr. Dauda physically assaulted the MCE during their altercation.
He expressed concern over the tension that this situation is creating within the party in the constituency.
