Ledzokuku NDC youth wing condemns allegedly mass transfer of votes

The youth wing of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) in Ledzokuku Constituency has condemned the allegation of mass transfer of votes from Dzodze, in the Ketu North Constituency, to the Ledzokuku Constituency.

It is alleged that the Ag. Director of Administration of NHIS, Mr. Raymond Avinu, in conjunction with the NHIS CEO, Dr. Okoe Boye arranged for the transportation of individuals from Dzodze, in the Ketu North Constituency, to the Ledzokuku Constituency Electoral Commission office on Sunday, October 8, 2023, for vote transfer.

The NDC Youth Organizer in the Ledzokuku Israel Adjetey in a statement dated October 9 wrote “In a recent incident, allegations have emerged of people being transported from the Volta Region to Ledzokuku Constituency for the purpose of transferring their votes, reportedly to influence the upcoming general elections”.

“This act is said to have been organized by the Ag. Director of Administration of NHIS, Mr. Raymond Avinu, in conjunction with the NHIS CEO, Dr. Okoe Boye”.

“On Sunday, October 8th, 2023, Mr. Avinu, reportedly arranged for the transportation of individuals from Dzodze, in the Ketu North Constituency, to the Ledzokuku Constituency Electoral Commission office”.

“Approximately five sprinter buses of voters were brought in from Avlikope, a village within the Ketu North municipality, with assurances of financial incentives for their actions”.

“It appears that the actions of Mr. Avinu had the tacit approval of Dr. Okoe Boye, as two NHIS official Toyota Land Cruisers were reportedly present at the scene”.

“Opposition parties raised concerns and protests, resulting in Mr. Avinu and some of the transported individuals fleeing the area”.

“Subsequently, Wisdom Donkor, the District Director of NHIS Ledzokuku, who also serves as the NPP constituency secretary, was arrested amidst the escalating tensions”.

“The youth of Ledzokuku Constituency strongly condemns any illegal mass transfer of votes, and as today marks the last day for transfers, we wish to caution all stakeholders that such actions will not be tolerated”.

“We urge a fair and transparent electoral process to ensure the integrity of the upcoming elections”, the statement added.

The 2023 votes transfer will end today October 9, 2023.
