PNC mourns Theresa Kufuor, E.T Mensah

The opposition People’s National Convention (PNC) has extended condolences to the families of former First Lady Theresa Aba Kufuor and former Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram  Enoch Teye Mensah, popularly known as E.T Mensah.

The two personalities died on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

“The duo’s contribution to Ghana’s development and in their respective capacities would forever be cherished,” the party said in a statement dated Tuesday, October 3, signed by PNC General Secretary Janet Asana Nabla.

“Honourable E. T. Mensah’s contribution to Ghana sports is remarkable”.

On the wife of President John Agyekum Kufuor, the opposition party wrote: “Mrs Theresah Kuffour, as a professional nurse and a first lady of the republic, would be remembered for her role in improving mother and child care through her Mother and Child Community Foundation (MCCDF).”

The PNC extended sincere condolences to “His Excellency Mr John Agyekum Kuffour, the children and the entire family for their loss”.

“The party extends same to the family of Hon. E. T. Mensah,” the release added. “It is the PNC’s prayer that their memories bring comfort in this difficult time”.

Theresa Kufuor served as Ghana’s First Lady under the New Patriotic Party(NPP) government from 2001 to 2009, when her husband, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, was president.

The governing NPP has extended its heartfelt condolences to the family for the loss.

A statement signed by the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, eulogized Mrs Kufuor as a beacon for female empowerment and advancement.

According to the party, her initiatives inspired and empowered women of all ages in various aspects of life.

As part of the party’s respect for the late Theresa Kufuor, the NPP has directed that all party flags at its offices across the country fly at half-mast for the next seven days.
