Police at Kuntenase have launched a manhunt for a 54-year-old man who allegedly inflicted multiple machete wounds on his 34-year-old girlfriend for fear of heartbreak,

The lovers have been together for three years, and they both live at Patriensa near Kuntenase in the Ashanti region.

The victim, Lovia Osei, said the suspect, Kwabena Tuffour, had fears that she would ditch him, but she constantly assured him of her underlying love for him.

Lovia explained that Kwabena’s friends polluted him to think that she would ditch him for a younger lover because of the age gap, despite the investments made by Kwabena.

Lovia revealed that Kwabena had been her support and assisted her financially in many ways, including payment for the cost of learning a trade; hence, she had no intentions of turning her back on him.

Information gathered indicates that on the day of the incident, Kwabena told Lovia that the machete in the house was blunt and needed sharpening.

He then took the machete to town for sharpening and returned later in the evening.

At midnight that same day, Kwabena launched the attack and slashed Lovia.

The victim stated that she was confused and began to shout for help, so the neighbours who heard her rushed to convey her to the Kuntenase Government Hospital for treatment.

Kwabena has since been on the run.

At the moment,  Lovia is living in constant anxiety and fear of being attacked again by her runaway boyfriend.
