You Forfeit Your Membership If You Follow Alan: NPP National Organizer
The Governing New Patriotic Party, NPP, is on the brink. Either a breakup or it consolidates to face the 2024 General Elections. This follows a statement by the NPP’s National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye that it is automatic forfeiture of membership of the party of anyone who follows Alan’s Movement for Change.
Yet, party members who were in the camp of Alan Kyeremanten prior to his resignation are unfazed by the position taken by the parent party, the NPP. Monitoring Joy TV of interviews conducted in the NPP’s stronghold of Kumasi, The Ghana Report gathers momentum for Alan. Some respondents said Ghana needs an independent presidential candidate as stewardship of the two major political parties has already been tested.
While the formal analysts compare the latest developments in the NPP with previous such happenings in the NDC which ended abysmally for defectors, people in the informal setting appear to wave on a third force on the back of the present economic situation.
Alan Kyerematen could push the next elections into the second round if he makes political waves. That certainly would upset the NPP and the NDC. With the dynamics set to change, the political numeracy favours none until probably the last vote is counted.
