Three remanded in police custody for breaking into school ICT laboratory

Three persons have been remanded in police custody for allegedly stealing computers belonging to the Assin Juaso M/A Basic School in the Central Region.

The trio, Emmanuel Opoku, 17; Bernard Egyir, 33; and Majeed Osman; were hauled before the Assin Fosu District Court.

They reportedly stole five desktop monitors, six mice, two keyboards, a backup battery, and a system unit.

The accused persons pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful entry and stealing.

Sentencing has been deferred to Thursday, September 14.

The facts before the court indicate that all accused persons are residents of Juaso in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central Region.

On Sunday, August 20, the convicts conspired and stole the said items from the school premises.

Following the theft, the suspects transported the stolen items to Kumasi, where they intended to sell them.

However, their actions caught the attention of a police patrol team in Kumasi, who suspected their movements while carrying the stolen items.

The police approached and interrogated the suspects, who subsequently admitted to the crime.

After further investigations, it was determined that the stolen computers belonged to the Assin Juaso M/A Basic School.

The school authorities had already reported the theft to the police in Assin Fosu.

The police in Kumasi then transferred the accused persons to the custody of the police in Assin Fosu for further investigations.
