Two persons have reportedly died and two others injured in a shooting incident at Nsawam Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region.

This comes after some kingmakers from the Abuakwa Traditional Council under heavy police and military protection installed a parallel chief for Nsawam Adoagyiri.

A situation that has angered some locals who paid homage to Akyem Kotoku and heightened tensions in the area.

The victims were reportedly part of the entourage of the newly installed chief of Adoagyiri Barima Adu Korkor III.

They were reportedly embarking on a float through the principal streets of Nsawam after swearing an oath to Okyehene and the Abuakwa Traditional Council following his enstoolment last week.

Alleged supporters of a rival chief confronted them resulting in a gun battle.

One of the victims was shot in the chest and died on the spot while the other was pronounced dead at the hospital.
