Maadwoa’s murder: State attorneys ask for time to file witness statements

Source The Ghana Report

The state attorneys handling the case of the police officer alleged to have shot his girlfriend in Kumasi, have requested more time to prepare and file witness statements.

According to the attorneys, there are about two or three pieces of evidence to put before the court for which reason they didn’t want the court to go on with the proceedings.

They, therefore, pleaded with the judge to grant some time to put together the evidence. A seven-member jury was assembled to meticulously review all evidence presented during the trial.

The court has granted the request and adjourned the case to September 19, 2023.

Meanwhile, the accused, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, who stands accused of fatally shooting 26-year-old Victoria Dapaa, also known as Maa Adwoa, still maintains his plea of not guilty.

A plea that has left family members and onlookers shocked and outraged.

The facts presented before the court revealed a stark contrast to the officer’s claim of innocence.

The prosecution said that he fired five shots at close range, resulting in the tragic death of the mother of one.

Court documents also suggest the accused used a service pistol to commit the crime.
