A man believed to be in his late forties has allegedly murdered his landlord at Yaw Anane, a farming community in the Bia West District of the Western North Region.
The deceased, 60-year-old Kwasi Antoh, had hired the suspect Yaw Wotoro, to work as a labourer on his farm.
The Assembly Member for Nafana Electoral Area, Augustine Boah, who confirmed the sad incident, said Kwasi visited his farm and was unhappy with the state of the work. He complained bitterly that the weeds on the farm were not cleared, while other farm practices had not been executed.
This did not go down well with the suspect.
The suspect, Yaw Wotoro, reportedly picked a cutlass and slashed the neck of his landlord at the back of his house and ran away.
However, he was apprehended by some community residents and handed over to the police.
“The body is at the Akatiso police station; we are waiting for the commander to arrive with his team. It is a very sad news. I have been an assembly member for two consecutive terms, and I have never heard of such an incident,” the Assembly member said.
He further advised community members to report persons who exhibit suspicious behaviours that could lead to such incidents.
“I’ll advise all and sundry to report persons of suspicious behaviour to the assemblyman, the assembly committee or the newly built police station at Bia. Failure to do so may one day result in a gruesome situation as this.”
