The Bull Is Coming
A bull strayed from the flock and looked bewildered as a lone ranger. A hard run by the animal in a direction to nowhere, sent people diving for cover.
This occurred around ”welfare” in Madina, a busy suburb of Accra, Ghana. The bull ran amok and left people terrified. In road traffic, motorists had to make sudden swerves to avoid a collision with the strong animal.
Residential compounds and markets also had a rude shock. Whilst people were relaxing or calmly going about their routines, the animal barged in on them. They had no choice but to take to their heels. The confusion saw a woman inadvertently kick a bowl containing soup and pour out its contents on the ground. The family meal for the day was probably deprived in the most unexpected of circumstances.
All this while, the herdsman had abandoned the herd of cattle in the pasture and was running barefoot to curb the runaway bull. Done instinctively, the act fits into the Biblical quotation in Matthew 18:12-14.
Alas, the brute strength of the human could not match the tempo of the animal. He quickly checked onto an Okada (motorcycle) to maintain the race. However, just as they caught up with the animal, the animal turned in the opposite direction to a speedier performance.
Prior to the union between the Okada rider and the herdsman, the former had made some frantic attempts to stop the animal but was cowered when the animal pointed its horns at him, so he sped off.
The pandemonium in town remained as the chase continued. The worst-case scenario might not have happened because the incident occurred Sunday, 20 August 2023 when most people were in church at high noon and the town was sparser.
The fast-moving scenes were characterized by only negatives yet hard to grasp the full extent to itemize them as the part being narrated was the one within eyeshot.
Heartburning. Watch out the bull is still on the loose.
