Adisadel College Assault: Judge Suspends Case As Student Rejects Assault Charge
The Adisadel College student captured on tape attacking his colleague has entered a plea of not guilty to charges of causing harm and assault levelled against him.
The accused, whose identity is being protected due to his status as a juvenile, faces the challenge of combining the court case with the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
As a result, the court has decided to postpone the case until after the exams.
Though the parents of the two teenagers and members of the general public were present to witness proceedings today (August 2, 2022), the case was heard in the judge’s chamber due to the sensitive nature of the matter.
The presiding judge, His Lordship Eric Oheneba Antwi Boasiako, adjourned the case to September 27, 2023, to allow the students to complete their final exams without interference.
Meanwhile, the Housemaster, Ekow Holman, is still on interdiction as authorities at Adisadel College are investigating the matter.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, July 26, on charges of causing harm and assault.
In the disturbing 30 seconds video, a student is seen choking another student from behind.
The tall student then forcefully slams the topless boy’s head onto the edge of a metal bunk bed, prompting voices off-camera to urge him to let go due to the evident harm caused.
After being released, the boy is seen with severe swelling on his face.
The video of the assault has since sparked widespread concern and outrage among parents, students, and the general public. Many are questioning the safety and security of students within educational institutions.
