14-Year-Old Girl In Critical Condition After Being Defiled

A 14-year-old Junior High School (JHS) student is in critical condition after a 25-year-old man allegedly defiled her at Twifo Atti-Morkwa in the Central Region.

Information gathered indicates that the victim is currently having difficulty urinating.

According to the victim’s mother, Comfort Botchway, she found her daughter in a pool of blood, screaming at the top of her voice, in July 2023.

The victim disclosed that one 25-year-old man named ‘Uncle Frederick’, popularly known in the area as Emergency, came into their house in the absence of her parents to engage her in marathon sex.

The case was then reported to the Twifo Hemang Police Command, where a medical form was issued before transporting the victim to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect is on the run, and the police have launched an investigation.

Cases of defilement have become rampant in recent times.

On July 30, a 31-year-old storekeeper, Yakubu Alhaasan, was arrested for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl at Gushegu in the Northern region.

The accused person has been remanded into police custody and is expected to reappear before the Yendi Circuit Court on August 15, 2023.

Again, on July 22, the Hohoe Circuit Court sentenced 40-year-old John Hygene Ahiadji, a commercial motor rider and a former teacher, to seven years imprisonment for defiling an 11-year-old class six pupil.

Ahiadji appeared before the court on May 15, 2023, and pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement but was later found guilty and subsequently convicted after a full trial.

In the Bono Region, a circuit court at Dormaa-Ahenkro sentenced  Stephen Owusu, a 40-year-old unemployed man, to 15 years in prison with hard labour on June 23 after he defiled a 12-year-old girl.
