President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sacked Bosome Freho DCE Yaw Danso, for his alleged involvement in illegal mining.

It will be recalled that Yaw Danso was suspended in October 2022 for allegedly engaging in illegal mining.

An audio in circulation which went viral on social media implicated the District Chief Executive when he was purportedly heard encouraging illegal mining in his district.

The Local Government Minister Dan Botwe communicated the president’s decision to the Ashanti Regional Minister on Friday, July 28.

Following the latest development, President Akufo-Addo has nominated Kofi Adu Amoateng as the new chief executive of the Bosome Freho District Assembly of the Ashanti Region.

The nomination is per Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (1) of the Local Government Act, Act 936 (as amended).

“In view of the above you are kindly requested to liaise with the regional Electoral Commission to conduct the confirmation process of the nominated chief executive,” the letter directed.
