Mahama raises concerns about Akufo-Addo and his appointees’ disregard for guidance on personal enrichment

Former President John Dramani Mahama has raised concerns about the conduct of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his appointees, regarding personal enrichment.

According to the former president and Flagbearer of the opposition NDC, President Akufo-Addo appears to have forgotten his previous advice regarding personal enrichment through private sector opportunities.

Addressing the graduating class of 2023 at the Academic City University College, Mr. Mahama expressed his concern about the significant deviation of President Akufo-Addo’s appointees from the admonishment given by the president six years ago.

In his address, Mahama reminded the audience of President Akufo-Addo’s past admonition, where he urged his appointees not to use their positions for personal enrichment.

Emphasizing the importance of responsible leadership, Mahama urged those aspiring to enter politics not to seek personal gain at the expense of the nation and its people.

He urged the young graduates to consider public service as a noble duty and to focus on fostering unity and development within the country.

The former president cautioned against the misuse of leadership positions to settle personal scores or promote partisan interests.

Instead, he encouraged the graduates to embrace competent-based staff engagement in their respective roles, emphasizing that such an approach would lead to more effective governance and better outcomes for the nation.

Drawing attention to the rising demands for accountability from citizens, Mahama stressed that leadership comes with challenges and responsibilities that cannot be evaded.

He advised the new graduates to face these challenges with integrity, transparency, and a genuine commitment to serve the nation and its people.
