Freda Prempeh nominated to replace Cecilia Dapaah as Sanitation Minister
President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuf0-Addo has nominated the Member of Parliament for Tano North, Freda Prempeh for the position of Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources.
A statement signed by the Director of Communications at the Office of the President said she will take over from Cecilia Abena Dapaah who resigned on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
“The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appointed the Minister of State at the Presidency and Member of Parliament for Tano North, Hon. Freda Prempeh, as the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources. She takes over from Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah, whose letter of resignation, dated Saturday, 22nd July 2023, was accepted by the President on Saturday, 22. July 2023,” the statement read.
The statement added that in consultation with the sector minister, the president has appointed Mavis Nkansah Boadu, the Member of Parliament for Afigya Sekyere East as the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
Thomas Mbomba, Member of Parliament for Tatale/Sanguli has also been appointed as the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways

Dr. Freda Prempeh is a three-time Member of Parliament for Tano North and the only female MP in the Bono and Ahafo Regions.
She is a former Deputy Minister of Works and Housing and the immediate past Deputy Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.
Before she became a Member of Parliament, Dr. Prempeh worked with the Ghana Prison Service for ten years.
Dr. Prempeh got the nod from her constituency to become the MP for Tano North on the ticket of the NPP in the year 2013. She has served in Parliament since then.
She is currently serving on the local government committee and the government assurances committee.
