The Mid-Year Budget presentation in Parliament has been postponed to July 31, 2023.
The presentation was initially slated for July 27, 2023, but rescheduled to July 25, 2023.
However, there was no show in Parliament today because it has been shifted to the end of the month.
The last-minute cancellation of the budget review has stirred curiosity among legislators, with various speculations emerging about the possible reasons behind the delay.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, announced that the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, would engage in an intensive meeting with the MPs on Friday, July 28, 2023, before the rescheduled presentation.
There was a haggle in Parliament last Friday, July 21, over the presentation date, as the government wanted it done on Thursday, July 27.
The presentation is a review of the government’s 2023 Economic Policy and Financial Statement delivered to Parliament by Mr Ofori-Atta on Thursday, November 24.
