Three fuel tankers have been partially burnt in a fire incident at the Tema tank yard, in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The incident occurred on Friday, July 14.
According to the Tema Regional Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Public Relations Officer, D03 Ebenezer Yenzu, one of the vehicles affected was a 54,000-litre tanker that reportedly contained fuel at the time of the incident.
Mr Yenzu said the GNFS received the distress call around 3:35 pm, and the Industrial Area station’s firefighting team arrived at the scene just twelve minutes later, at 3:47 pm.
He commended the firefighters for their exceptional performance, emphasizing that their timely intervention prevented a potential explosion within the yard.
Meanwhile, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are currently underway to establish the source of the blaze.
Also, the precise extent of the damage to the fuel tankers is yet to be fully assessed.
