2 suspected criminals lynched at Assin Bereku
Two suspected criminals have been lynched by angry youths at Assin Bereku for inflicting machete wounds on a woman.
The incident occurred after one of the three suspects, Koo Ofori, allegedly inflicted cutlass wounds on a woman identified as Afia Takyiwa for reasons yet to be known.
Upon hearing about the attack, the youth of Assin Bereku mobilized themselves and chased after the suspects.
They managed to apprehend Koo Ofori and another person and subsequently lynched them before the arrival of the police.
However, when the police arrived on the scene, they were also attacked by the angry mob.
Despite the volatile situation, the police were able to rescue the 3rd suspect who had been arrested by the youth.
The police sought backup to rescue the suspect from further harm.
Reacting to the situation, the Tufohene of Assin Bereku, Nana Frimpong Baah expressed his concerns about the situation and called on the government to take action to ensure security.
The victim, Afia Takyiwaa is currently receiving treatment at St. Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu.
