Deposed MP James Gyakye Quayson has been maintained as the Member of Parliament MP) for the Assin North constituency.

Mr Quayson, who contested on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), emerged victorious at the end of the polls.

The Liberal Party of Ghana’s Bernice Enam Sefanu had only 87 votes, representing 0.29%.

Officers of the Electoral Commission declared Mr Quayson as the victor, raising his hand to signal his new status.

The NDC executives and party faithfuls, who couldn’t hide their excitement, joined the MP-elect in their popular chant, ‘Revo, Revo, Revolution. Has a long way to go but has come to stay’.

It will be recalled that Mr Quayson was kicked out of Parliament for having dual citizenship prior to filing his nomination forms, leading to his removal and subsequent by-election.
