The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited(ECG) has begun a massive mobilization exercise to collect arrears from customers including State-Owned Enterprises(SOEs).
Management explained that the collection of the arrears will be monitored by special teams who will apprehend and prosecute customers who attempt to interfere with the exercise or undertake illegal self-reconnection after disconnection.
The exercise which commences today is expected to come to an end on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.
ECG in a statement issued on Monday, June 26, 2023, however, noted that pursuant to the exercise, management shall operate with a lean staff pool who will provide essential services to customers during the revenue mobilization period to enable total participation by top management and staff.
Customers moreover were advised to pay their arrears to avoid disconnection and payment of reconnection fees during the exercise.
