Pensioner Bondholders resume picketing at finance ministry over unpaid coupons

Members of the Pensioner Bondholders Forum(MBF) have resumed picketing at the Finance Ministry to intensify their demand for the payment of six outstanding coupons.

This comes at the back of a temporary two-week suspension of their protest, during which the government fulfilled its promise to settle four principles and matured coupons.

However, today, June 22, the bondholders have reassembled at the ministry to press for the payment of the remaining financial obligations.

The forum has acknowledged the government’s commitment to fulfilling the principal payments, but attention is now directed toward the unpaid coupons that have matured since June 5.

The bondholders recently expressed their intention to petition the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) concerning the government’s handling of their demands.

This move by the bondholders’ sought legal intervention to ensure their rights and interests were upheld.

They believe the government’s handling of their demands warrants independent investigation and intervention.

The picketers have been steadfast in their pursuit of justice, advocating for fulfilling financial entitlements.

They are retirees who rely on these payments to support their livelihoods, making the issue a matter of utmost importance and urgency.
