Celtic planning contacts with agent of Daniel Amartey as Ghanaian is set to reunite with Brendan Rodgers
According to TEAMtalk, incoming Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is already considering his former Leicester City players as he seeks to strengthen the squad at Parkhead.
Rodgers, who is set to return to Celtic Park for his second stint as manager, has been linked with a move for Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey as his potential first signing.
Having spent eight seasons at Leicester City, Amartey made 145 appearances for the Foxes and left the club at the end of his deal this season. His ability to provide cover in both defense and midfield makes him an attractive prospect for Celtic.
While Amartey has been in talks with clubs in Turkey regarding a potential move, there has also been interest in him from Saudi Arabia.
However, it appears that Celtic is now in the running to secure his services, with the Scottish club reportedly preparing to contact the player’s agent.
Following his departure from Leicester in April, Rodgers had initially planned to take a break from the game. However, sources suggest that he is now keen to bring in Amartey to bolster Celtic’s defensive options.
The 28-year-old versatile player is currently a free agent after leaving Leicester at the end of the season.
