Former Secretary of the defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, Charles Bissue, says it is unfortunate that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has published his photo as a wanted man as though he was a fugitive.
He says he is in the country and not on the run.
“I am within the jurisdiction. It is unfortunate that my photos have gone out as though I were a fugitive, but that is not the case. So everyone should calm down. I will go so that the truth is revealed,” he said.
Mr Bissue said he would avail himself for the Special Prosecutor to furnish him with the information he wanted, adding that it “is an opportunity to redeem my image more.”
“I have been to the Special Prosecutor twice during Martin Amidu’s tenure, I went to NIB twice and CID and provided whichever question was asked,” he stated in an interview on Asempa FM.
Charles Bissue was, on Tuesday, June 13, declared wanted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor. (OSP).
A statement by the office said Mr Bissue is wanted for corruption and corruption-related offences regarding the activities and expenditure of the dissolved IMCIM.
“This is particularly in respect of the seizure and management of excavators, machinery, road vehicles, and gold nuggets and the use of public office for profit,” the statement said.
This comes after the OSP obtained a court order to arrest Mr Bissue following his failure to comply with previous invitations.
