Four suspected kidnappers have been arrested by the Police at their hideout at Ntranoa, near Ankaful, in Cape Coast.
Information gathered suggest that the suspected kidnappers enticed their victims from Accra and other parts of the country with job opportunities and held them hostage in their fenced apartment.
The suspects were reportedly apprehended on Wednesday, June 7, after some members of the community lodged a complaint with the police.
According to the residents, the four believed to be francophones, have been living in a rented apartment in the community for about two months but their demeanour did not signal any suspicious acts.
They added that the apartment belonged to one university lecturer.
However, on Wednesday afternoon, one of their victims managed to escape and called for help from members of the community.
The incident was then reported to the Regional Police headquarters which intervened on time to prevent two of the suspects from being lynched by the agitated community members.
The police arrested four of them while one suspect, who allegedly disguised himself and entered a mosque was reportedly killed.
Meanwhile, two others, including their supposed leader, believed to be in his 60s, managed to escape and are currently on the run.
The Police are said to have rescued some victims, all in their 20s, and taken them to the hospital in a Wednesday evening operation.
They reportedly retrieved talismans, knives and other implements from the apartment.
The Police are, however, yet to comment on the issue.
