A spokesperson for the Nogokpo community in the Volta Region, Nufialagah Mawufemor Kobla Nornyigbey, has said there are no demonic spirits in the area.
His reaction follows the comments made by the Founder of Perez Chapel International, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, that Nogokpo is the “demonic” headquarters of the Volta Region.
The statement caused resentment among people in the Volta Region, especially some traditional leaders at Nogokpo.
Commenting on the issue, Kobla Nornyigbey said, “Nogokpo is a place where no demonic spirits can exit. You dare not steal; you dare not commit any such negativity”.
According to him, many people patronise the shrine to seek justice.
“When people want to seek justice, when people want to seek fairness, that is where the name Nogokpo is mentioned. For instance, when someone’s something is missing, and he is looking for it, and he is not getting it, and he is like, ‘I’m taking it to Nogokpo’, the meaning is that he wants to take it to Nogokpo to seek justice.
“So Nogokpo is a town of justice. The thunder deity on the land is a just one. If you are innocent, you go scot-free, but if you really committed the crime, he will visit you,” he added.
In one of his sermons, the founder and leader of Perez Chapel International, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, said a small village in the Ketu South Municipal called Nogokpo is the headquarters of demons in the Volta Region of Ghana.
He made this known after a near-tragic incident he experienced at Nogokpo.
He said he went to a crusade at Aflao with his pastors and had to pass through Nogokpo to the next town.
