The Krachi East Motor Traffic and Transport Division (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the death of a 55-year-old woman who was tragically knocked down by a hit-and-run driver.
The incident occurred on the outskirts of Kparekpare, a farming community in Dambai, within the Oti Region, on the evening of Thursday, June 1.
Sergeant Zakaria Asharift, from the MTTD, stated that investigations were underway to determine the cause of the accident.
The victim, identified as Ama Wete, suffered severe head injuries due to being struck by an unidentified vehicle.
Following the incident, the deceased was promptly taken to the Worawora Government Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Once the examination is completed, the body will be released to the family for burial.
In an effort to bring justice, the police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the driver responsible for the hit-and-run incident.
