(VIDEO) Fire destroys structures at Madina-Ritz Junction
Several structures were completely destroyed by a fire outbreak in the late hours of Tuesday (May 30) at the Madina-Ritz Junction area in Accra, causing widespread panic.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames shooting into the sky and thick black smoke billowing into the air.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the fire started in a commercial building at about 11 pm and quickly spread to multiple wooden structures.
The flames were so intense that they could be seen from several kilometres away, and it took several hours for firefighters to bring the blaze under control.
The cause of the fire outbreak is still unknown, but investigations are currently underway by the GNFS.
The Madina-Ritz Junction fire outbreak serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety and emergency preparedness. The GNFS has urged all residents to be vigilant about fire hazards in their surroundings.
