A confident Afriyie-Akoto promises NPP victory in 2024

Former Food and Agriculture Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie-Akoto says, his triumph in the flagbearer race will revive the New Patriotic Party into Ghana’s 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

According to the former minister, the grassroots are expecting his leadership in the crucial elections. His promise to his party folks and the generality of the populace is that an Afriyie-Akoto victory will grant them the requisite standard of living through robust agriculture and innovative entrepreneurship.

Other tenants of his platform are cultural revival, safeguards against crime and youth empowerment.

Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto is a son of the late Okyeame Baffour Akoto, a famous linguist to the Asante King, and a pioneer of Ghana’s political reorganization in the pre-independence period.

Whilst his campaign has been low-key in the media, his posters are some of the most visible nationwide. He enjoys considerable support from party grassroots and rural communities where smallholder farmers benefitted from agricultural schemes he managed as a sector minister.

He is one of the candidates who picked their nomination forms very early to serve notice they are ready for the political battles ahead.
