A 44-year-old man has been found dead in River Ago in Adokwai near Dompoase in the Adansi North district of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased, Kwabena Opare, was returning from his farm when the incident occurred.
According to the wife of the deceased, he failed to return home at the usual time, and all efforts to locate him proved futile since it was late at night.
She added that he was discovered the following day floating in the river.
The bridge over the river had collapsed.
Reacting to the incident, the Adokwaihene Daasebre Omono Asamoah Agyei II said the bridge had been in bad shape for years.
He revealed that residents began using an abandoned make-shift bridge after a road diversion due to construction works.
Therefore, the chief appealed to the government to construct a proper road from Dompoase to the community.
The deceased is survived by a wife and four children.
