GPRTU responds to fuel increment

Source Happy Ghana

Members of the Ghana Private Road and Transport Union (GPRTU), have expressed great displeasure on recent fuel price increment.

In an interview with Kwame Afrifa on ‘Epa Hoa Daben’, Mr. Francis Annor, a driver in affiliation with the GPRTU, lamented on the great losses they (drivers) will encounter following the price increment.

‘’Our main occupation is driving. We buy fuel into our cars to transport passengers and make our income from the fares they pay. Now if these fuel prices are increased and we keep charging the same fare, how will we make enough profit to take care of our families?
he quizzed.

He further stressed, that since they cannot compel the government to reduce the fuel prices, they have no option than to increase fares as well.

When asked if they will consult their head before enacting the fare increment, he said, ‘’Kwame Kuma (head of the GPRTU) only came to serve his party and not the people under him. He does nothing for us.’’
