A man has been found dead on the banks of a river at Yeji in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region of Ghana.
The deceased is believed to be in his late thirties.
Eyewitnesses have identified the deceased as a mason by the name of Kobby.
He was found lifeless in a prone position wearing only black shorts on the river banks.
It is reported that he went to the banks of the river to wash his clothes and other items, which were also discovered close to the body.
Witnesses initially suspected he was robbed, but eventually, some money was discovered with his clothes untouched.
According to residents, the deceased suffered epilepsy and often lost consciousness at odd places.
Assemblyman for the area, Godwin Awidi, said a delegation was sent to notify the family of the deceased.
The police have been informed of the development, and they have retrieved the body to the mortuary as investigations commence.
Meanwhile, a 12-year-old boy drowned recently in the Volta Lake at Jaklai, a suburb of Yeji in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region.
The deceased reportedly went to the lakeside with two other boys on Sunday, May 21, 2023, to fetch water when the accident occurred.
After fetching the water, the boys went ahead to play in a canoe onshore and were chased away by some residents.
The three boys jumped into the lake to escape but started struggling to stay afloat.
Some bystanders managed to rescue two of the victims. However, the third, who had swam further, passed on before help arrived.
