Specially-branded campaign vehicles of the sitting Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana are said to have arrived and delivery taken.
The Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia this month declared his intentions to run for the office of president but first, he must clinch the flagbearer slot of the Governing New Patriotic Party.
The Vice President got a boon to his political aspirations when a greater number of members of parliament of his party openly endorsed his candidature.
He is however facing a strong contest by at least 10 other party stalwarts which include a former Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Alan Kyeremanten, former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, the MP for Essikado Ketan, Mr Joe Ghartey, and a former Minister of Energy, Mr Boakye Agyarko. Others are, Mr Kofi Konadu Apraku who is currently with the Ecowas, and a former MP of Asante Mampong, Mr. Francis Addai-Nimoh.
Should Bawumia win the NPP race, he will come face to face with the former President John Mahama of the opposition NDC, making it a northern contest and possibly and unavoidably, to deliver a President from that part of the country, out of the 2024 elections.
