10-year-old boy electrocuted
A ten-year-old boy identified as Jacob Vijoro was electrocuted while returning home from their farm at Suhum in the Eastern Region.
Information gathered revealed that Jacob was returning from the farm with his elder brother but died immediately after he was electrocuted.
It was reported that he was transporting firewood from the farm when his leg got caught up in a naked electrical cable.
According to reports, the residents of the area had repeatedly reported the situation to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), but received no feedback.
Details on this tragedy indicated that after the electrocution of young Jacob, some residents went to the power station to turn off the power supply.
The youngster lived with his stepmother and on the day he met his doom, he was supposed to be in school but instead went to the farm.
According to reports, Jacob’s elder brother tried to save him but to no avail.
But for the quick intervention of bystanders, he too would have died from electrocution.
In the same vein, a 6-year-old boy, identified as Theophilus Eleke Lordgist, got electrocuted to death after touching an electrified container at Fetteh Kakraba in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The incident occurred on Monday evening when the deceased was playing.
He was rushed to the St. Gregory Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Information gathered indicated that the container, which belonged to a pastor, Peter Obi, had electrocuted three persons within a week, but the pastor failed to disconnect power to the container and check the wiring despite many calls for him to do so.
According to residents, the pastor insulted anyone who called him and complained about the container, which continued to shock people who touched it.
