A tipper truck has run into a family house injuring three people at Heman in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, May 7, 2023.
According to eyewitnesses, the tipper truck with registration number GR-7137-23 was reportedly being transported on a towing vehicle when the fastened chains snapped, causing it to lose control in the process.
It rammed into the house and destroyed two bedrooms while the occupants were still asleep.
Speaking to journalists, one occupant of the house, Maame Akosua Konadu disclosed that, her mother, 63-year-old, her daughter, 11, and another young man, 26, were the occupants in the two rooms.
The 26-year-old man got trapped under the truck with one of the tires sitting on his leg but was luckily rescued on time.
She said the two others also sustained various degrees of injury and were rushed to the Jamasi Hospital for treatment.
“The driver of the tipper truck told us they were traveling from Wa to Kumasi to fix the vehicle because it had broken down for some time. On reaching Heman, the truck broke from the towing car, and the driver, in an attempt to save the situation run into our house causing severe injuries to three people.
“We have officially filed a report to the police in the area and they have since taken over the case,” she said.
