English will be translated to Arabic for me as GFA President – Alhaji Grusah
Alhaji Karim Grunsah, owner of Division One League side, King Faisal, has intimated his readiness to take over the mantle as Ghana Football Association President should delegates give him the mandate, ABC News can report.
The outspoken football administrator dismissed suggestions by his critics that his difficulty with the English language will impede his ability to deliver on the job.
In an interview with some sports journalists, Alhaji Grunah brushed off assertions that he was not qualified due to his lack of comprehension of the English language. But the rather experienced football administrator has dismissed the assertion stressing that he is highly educated in Arabic.
The King Faisal owner noted that just as is done for other leaders who may have challenges understanding the English language, particularly at international fora, information will be translated to his understanding in Arabic.
He argued that contrary to the widely held belief that he doesn’t understand English, he does relatively better than the immediate past Presidents of the continental football governing body, CAF.
“I went to Arabic school. If you go to UN or similar places, because of the Arabian, information is translated from English, because of the French, information is translated from English to French.”
“Ahmed Ahmed, does he understand English, Issa Hayatou does he understand English? My English is better than all of them” he emphasised.
The race to elect the new GFA Executive body is heating up as more and more people show up to contest.
The Executive Committee of GFA was dissolved after an investigative piece by Anas Aremeyaw Anas showed alleged massive corruption that affected the smooth running of the organisation.
FIFA, in consultation with Government of Ghana, has put in place a Normalisation Committee whose mandate is to steer the affairs of the Association, develop new statutes and upon approval by football administrators conduct elections for a new crop of Executives.
Even though the video is not recent, it has gained some social media attention since it resurfaced. Listen to the soundbite that has gone viral below:
